Week 15 recap: Are you still out there? Playoffs? Talk about playoffs? Let’s see how my picks last week for starters played off, er out. First off, at QB, I said to start Brock Purdy and J. J. McCarthy. In his game, Purdy ended up with 295 yards passing, 44 yards rushing, 3 TDs, and lost a fumble. I was right to start him. McCarthy, meanwhile, had 250 yards passing, 15 yards rushing, 3 TDs, and a pick. I was right to start him too. At RB, I said to start Tyrone Tracey, Jr. and Aaron Jones, Sr. Tracey had 70 yards rushing, 27 yards receiving, and 2 TDs. I was right to start him. Jones, however, had only 34 yards rushing, 31 yards receiving, and nothing else. I was wrong to start him. At wide out, I said to start Stefon Diggs and Justin Jefferson. Diggs ended up with 26 yards receiving and nothing else. I was wrong to start him. Jefferson somehow did worse with 22 yards receiving and nothing else. I was wrong to believe in him/them and start him. At tight end, I said to start Theo Johnson and Travis Kelce. Johnson had 72 yards receiving and nothing else – a push for him. Kelce, meanwhile, had 70 yards receiving and nothing else. For him, I was wrong to start, not good enough. For the team defenses, I said to start the 49ers and the Cowboys. The 49ers won, held the Titans to 24 points, along with nothing else. Close, but with the W, good enough to say I was right to start them. The Cowboys, meanwhile, had a loss, gave up 34 points, along with a pick. I was wrong to start them.
QB:
Justin Herbert – Not much to write home about of recent, but he has a matchup against the worst pass D in Dallas. Put him back in your lineup.
Tyler Shough – Do it. Lawrence just threw for 5 and ran for 1 TD in last week’s game against the Jets, a team that Shough plays against this week. Maybe not 6 TDs for him, but maybe a couple and maybe even 300 yards too.
RB:
Omarion Hampton – He is back as the Chargers lead back and with a juicy matchup this week vs Dallas, a bottom 10 ranked rush D. The timing couldn’t be any better.
Audric Estime – No guts, no glory. Time to throw the deep ball, and Estime is a prime candidate for this this week as he faces the 3rd worst ranked rush D in the Jets.
WR:
D. K. Metcalf – He has evolved into a matchup dependent player, and this week he has a matchup, on paper, you should depend on as he faces a Lions pass D that is 2nd worst in the league.
Jauan Jennings – He has scored a TD in 5 of his last 6 games, and this week he faces a bottom 5 pass D in the Colts. Looks like it will become 6 of 7 (hands up, palms up, up and down). Yeah.
TE:
Kyle Pitts – He is burning up, and you should not bench him. Even if London is able to play, the chemistry is there with Cousins, plus he faces a Cards D that is bottom 10 against tight ends.
Darren Waller – Who is a rookie QB’s best friends in the passing game? The tight end and the back out of the backfield. Take that and the fact they face a Bengals passing D that is worst in the league against the position and roll with it homie.
D:
Buccaneers – A huge game against the Panthers, and both are coming off upset losses to division rivals. Should be a good one, but I feel the Bucs will steal one on the road this week.
Titans – No Mahomes. No playoffs. Time for KC to play dead for a better draft slot. Yeah, they will fold like the babies they are and Tennessee will be gifted a rare win.
