Bye Weeks are now a thing of the past (at least for this season). Here are players who can help for maybe a week fill-in or down the stretch.
NOTE: Reminder here that these are players rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo leagues.
QUARTERBACK
Deeper League Adds:
Shedeur Sanders (Cle)–His 52.4% completion rate is not good, but his YPA (7.5) is not bad. The rushing potential is also a plus, as well as three of the final four defenses he will face this season: Chi, Pit, and Cin.
Marcus Mariota (Was)–This is predicated on whether or not Jayden Daniels (QB-Was) suits up. Mariota has proven to be serviceable in fantasy in his previous three starts (5 passing TDs), and getting Terry McLaurin (WR-Was) back on the field seems to have helped. He also has the rushing upside, averaging 42 yards a game in those same three starts. With Daniels again looking iffy, Mariota might be up, and he has a delicious opponent in Week 15: NYG.
Aaron Rodgers (Pit)–Miami’s secondary is up next in Week 15. Again, we are talking about deep league adds.
Tyler Shough (NO)–If you want to plan ahead for Week 17, his opponent is Tennessee.
RUNNING BACK
Chris Rodriguez Jr. (Was)-The fantasy fortunes for Jacory Coskey-Merritt (RB-Was) have seemed to all but fade away. Sigh! For now, at least, it “appears” like Rodriquez Jr. is the lead back on this offense. He has scored a TD in 4 of his last 7 games, and has seen double-digit touches in 4 of the last 5. He gets NYG’s defense in Week 15 that is 2nd most generous to the RB position.
Devin Singletary (NYG)–When Tyrone Tracy Jr. (NYG) left Week 13’s game in a cart, Singletary had the look of a decent RB2 for the foreseeable future. However, Tracy Jr.’s injury was minor, according to reports. IF, however, the injury to Tracy Jr. turns out to be something worse, Singletary would be a low-end RB2 down the stretch. Even with a healthy Tracy Jr., it sure does seem like the coaches simply like Singletary in short-yardage and goal line situations, as demonstrated by his 16 Redzone touches (compared to 7 for Tracy Jr.) over the last 4 games and 3 TDs (compared to Tracy Jr.’s 0) over the last three games.
Jaylen Wright (Mia)–De’Von Achane (RB-Mia) left the game in Week 14, but reports are the injury was minor and he could have returned if needed. Ollie Gordon II (RB-Mia) seemed poised to be the back-up to Achane earlier in the season, but Wright seems to have won over the coaches, as Gordon was a distant 3rd in the pecking order in Week 14. IF, HOWEVER, Achane’s injury is more serious, Wright would be my priority add of the week.
Bam Knight (Ari)–Trey Benson (RB-Ari) simply may not be returning this season. Knight is the best bet in this backfield for fantasy points.
Tyler Allgeier (Atl)–He has double digit touches in EIGHT of the THIRTEEN games Atlanta has played this season, and he has also scored a TD in seven of those games, with 8 total TDs on the season. He is a decent flex play, and he seems clearly locked in as part of this offense and the hand-cuff to Bijan Robinson (RB-Atl). Tampa Bay’s 10th most generous defense to the RB position is on deck.
Blake Corum (LAR)–Kyren Williams (RB-LAC) leads this backfield, but Corum has seen some playing time. Corum is one of those lottery tickets that could pay off.
Ollie Gordon II (Mia)–What if Week 14 was an anomaly and Gordon really is the hand-cuff? And add to that, what if Achane’s injury is more serious?
Samaje Perine (Cin)–He is probably more a thorn in the fantasy production of Chase Brown (RB-Cin) than an actual fantasy play, but he sees enough touches to warrant flex consideration.
Deeper League Add(s):
Bhayshul Tuten (Jax)–Rumors of a Tuten takeover of this backfield have subsided recently. That said, he has scored in 3 of his last 6 games, is a solid hand-cuff, and gets NYJ’s 3rd most generous defense to the RB position in Week 15.
Brian Robinson Jr. (SF)–He has seen 5-8 touches per game the last four weeks, and has scored a TD in two of those games. He is a decent hand-cuff and has Tennessee’s generous defense as an opponent in Week 15.
Emanuel Wilson (GB)- This is the time to start consolidating your team and look to add your RB hand-cuffs in case something were to happen.
Tank Bigsby (Phi)– This is the time to start consolidating your team and look to add your RB hand-cuffs in case something were to happen. For Saquon Barkley (RB-Phi) fantasy managers, Bigsby is next in line. There would be a drop-off, though, as he is more of a 2 down back, and I believe Will Shipley (RB-Phi) would also see a bit or touches as well as serve as the 3rd down option on the team.
WIDE RECEIVER
Luther Burden III (Chi)–Rome Odunze (WR-Chi) may be missing more time with a stress fracture in his foot, so Burden should continue to see opportunities.
Ryan Flournoy (Dal)–The 2nd year WR has shown some flashes when given the opportunity. IF CeeDee Lamb (WR-Dal), who is in the concussion protocol, were to miss Week 14, Flournoy could be a solid play. That said, initial reports are that Lamb is doing well and may not miss any time.
Devaughn Vele (NO)–The 2024 7th round draft pick has seen 20 targets over the past three games and has gone 14-170-1 during that stretch. He has also played 88% or more during those games.
Deeper League Add(s):
Adam Thielen (Pit)–The Steelers are in need of another pass catcher. Thielen is a pass catcher. In his first game, he saw the 2nd most snaps at the WR position (48%). You have to assume this is going to go up. This is a longshot addition, but he may have some value down the stretch.
Jayden Reed (WR-GB)–If you are a believer in Reed, his return in Week 14, where he saw the 3rd most snaps at the WR position, was a start.
Chimere Dike (Ten)–If your league awards fantasy points for return yardage, Dike has a solid floor. Even with Elic Ayomanor (WR-Ten) returning from injury, Dike still saw 76% and 67% of the WR snaps over the past two games. But being on a bad offense, the ceiling is limited.
TIGHT END
Harold Fannin Jr. (Cle)–I mention Fannin Jr. every week, and this week, he is my priority add. He is seeing as many targets per game as Tyler Warren (TE-Ind) on the season (while also averaging the same amount of TD receptions (0.3). He has a steady floor and his ceiling may now be rising with Shedeur Sanders (QB-Cle). In the past three games, Sanders has thrown the ball 85 times for 722 yards and 5 TDs. Fannin Jr. Has is the on the receiving end of 22 of those 85 attempts (26% target share), has 197 of those 722 yards (27% yardage share), and 2 of those 5 TDs (40% TD share).He has also gone 3 games in a row seeing 90% or more of the snaps.
Colston Loveland (Chi)–If you want 4-7 targets for about 40-60 yards and maybe a TD, he is your guy.
Deeper League Add(s):
Darren Waller (Mia)–If you are in need of help at the position for the stretch run and are willing to swing for the fences, Waller is the perfect addition. He has almost no floor but is a decent TD option.
Theo Johnson (NYG)–Washington’s porous defense is up for Week 15.
Dalton Schultz (Hou)–He may not score many TDs (1 for the season), but he remains involved in the offense (only 3 games this season with less than 5 targets).
Taysom Hill (TE-NO)–I will say this every week. You know there will be that occasional game where he blows up. The chances may have increased for this to happen now that New Orleans has moved to a rookie QB and has traded its #2 WR. However, the flip side is he could also easily score a 0.
